Revitalize Randall
Articles related to the approximately $6.7 million in borrowing
needed for the renovation of the Randall Library was approved at
Annual Town Meeting in May 2022. With a positive vote at the Town
Election, the project was given final approval to move forward.
Project Goals
• Bring the library building up to code and safely house our
materials.
• Maintain Randall Library’s historic charm, while also functioning
in a way that more effectively serves our modern needs.
• Use existing square footage more efficiently, to better
accommodate our materials and resources in a way that best
suits the needs of patrons.
• Create new entrances—more accessible and safer for patrons to
access.
• Offer bright, inviting, and useful spaces for programs, learning,
and collaboration, accommodating user needs of all ages.
Timeline
A rough timeline is presented here. The most current information
will be available on the Stow Town Website here.
As of October 2022, the Building Committee 2.0 and the Exterior Design Committee are being formed. Collier’s of Boston has been selected as the Owner’s Project Manager (OPM). The application period for the design firm has begun. Once identified and engaged, the process for the final design and construction drawings will commence, which is anticipated to take 12 months. Construction will then begin.
Revitalize Randall is a subgroup of the Randall Library Friends, using the Friends’ 501(c)3 status for fundraising. The mission of the Revitalize Randall Project is to preserve and protect Stow’s most iconic landmark while enhancing it for future generations.
